Success! Gene brought the pump back from Savannah yesterday afternoon. About 1800 he installed it and to make a long story short, it works! We're back running and hopefully not producing excess oil any longer. He also ordered a set of injector lines. He said they were in lousy shape and needed replacing, but he'll get them shipped to Sue's aunt's home and I'll replace them while we're in Virginia. It turns out that the rebuilt pump that we received had a different fuel shutoff solenoid than the one we replaced. The rebuilt pump had a normally open valve. I. e. energize to shut the fuel/engine off. Wind Angel is wired for a normally closed valve. That means the valve has to be energized to let the fuel flow.
To break the monotony we went on a bus tour of Beaufort. Interesting history. Seems when the Confederate War began, the white settlers abandoned their homes and the slaves took them over. A number of movies where filmed here. Prince of Tides was one and they did a scene from Forrest Gump here too. A rather pleasant little town. The folks at the marina a very accommodating and pleasant. The showers are a little run down but are clean at least once a day. There is a very well stocked hardware store within walking distance of the marina as is the post office and numerous churches. No grocery stores close, but the marina has a courtesy car. Enterprise will deliver a car to you. They are open 6 days a week. Thrifty doesn't want to answer their phone.
Lessons learned so far:
I ordered a new tuner yesterday, thinking I'd be here for a few more days, but I did ask for next day air. If they got it out yesterday, then I'll have it sometime today. When it comes in, we'll be on our way back north.
More at the next stop.
